WELCOME TO EMGM
Welcome to the European Meningococcal Disease Society (EMGM Society)
Welcome to the website of the EMGM Society. Founded in June 2005, the EMGM Society serves as a collaborative forum for European Reference Laboratories for Meningococci and infectious disease epidemiologists. Our society builds upon the foundation laid by the European Monitoring Group on Meningococci, continuing its legacy of providing epidemiological data on meningococcal disease across Europe.
As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to reducing the burden of invasive bacterial diseases caused by Neisseria meningitidis and Haemophilus influenzae. Our commitment lies in advancing scientific knowledge and fostering collaboration among professionals in clinical microbiology, epidemiology, and related fields.
Our Mission:
- Promote Excellence: Supporting national and international bodies in clinical microbiology, epidemiology, research, and teaching.
- Enhance Research: Encouraging advancements in quality assurance, strain characterization, pathogenesis, immunogenicity, and the impact of vaccination strategies.
- Advance Clinical Practice: Focusing on diagnosis, therapy, antimicrobial susceptibility, infection control, and good laboratory practices.
Join Our Community: We invite the following professionals to join us as full members:
- Representatives of European national reference laboratories for meningococci.
- Representatives of European national epidemiological surveillance bodies.
- Clinicians with a scientific interest in meningococcal disease.
- Professionals in hospitals, governmental, educational, or non-profit organizations with relevant experience and qualifications.
Graduate students and commercial entities with an interest in meningococcal issues are also welcome, with graduate students benefiting from reduced membership fees while enjoying full membership rights.
For more information on membership and our activities, please contact the Secretary of the Executive Board.
Thank you for visiting the EMGM Society. We look forward to your participation and collaboration in our ongoing efforts to combat meningococcal and Haemophilus influenzae diseases.
